Serving Up Responsibility with Every Steak

Serving up responsibility with every Steak

At LongHorn Steakhouse, we know our guests care about the planet. And when you choose to dine with us, you can know we share your commitment to sustainability. Every LongHorn restaurant appoints a "Sustainability Team" of employees who recycle cardboard and plastic, reduce water use, and donate food never served to guests to local food banks in our community. It's a responsibility we all take to heart and know makes a difference.

Our conservation efforts extend beyond our team members. When we construct new restaurants, we utilize recyclable building materials, natural light and energy-efficient fixtures. For existing restaurants, we now use more energy-efficient light bulbs and energy-smart schedules for powering up cooking equipment. We also use low-flow aerators on our sinks and apply energy-efficient thermostat schedules and settings. Together, these practices help LongHorn conserve natural resources.

Recycling and conservation

LongHorn is also concerned about the environmental impact of beef production. We believe it's important to advance sustainability not only in our restaurants, but also in the foods we serve. There are more than 700,000 family farms and ranches in the U.S. That's where our beef production starts. So when we promise to advance sustainability, we also invest in thousands of family-owned businesses.

LongHorn and our parent company Darden Restaurants are committed to helping find solutions that reduce the environmental impact of beef production and support the livelihoods of beef producers. We are engaging with our key suppliers and partnering with organizations such as the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, the U.S. Sustainable Beef Coalition, and the Global Roundtable on Sustainable Beef to support research and promote improved practices.
